My Contact Lenses
People who know me, know that sometimes my contacts trouble me a lot. (yes! I over use them!) So anyways, today I was rubbing my eyes sitting on my Mom's bed and when I opened them one contact lens fell right on the bed. I was about to take them off anyway. So I picked it up. I couldnt see clearly from the other eye either, so I thought that maybe the lens moved in my eye (which is a normal thing). I went to keep that contact which fell off in its case and then went infront of the mirrir to hunt for the one which was lost in my eye.
Pretty soon I discovered, its no where where I can see. You see the irony of the situation? A contact lens lost in my eye, and I cant find it by looking in a mirror. Instead of freaking out I actually laughed and said "This cant be happening man" I called my friend just to see her freak out at this. Because I knew she would just start yelling at me and I know that if she was my neighbour she would've come over to my house right away. ( She even asked me to come pick her up to help her find my contact in my eye. lol) She gave me this telephone health nurse number (which I didnt know existed) and stayed with me on the line while I talked to them about the situation.
The nurse asked me a couple of questions. Now that part was weird too. She's asking me all these questions about the situation with my eye, if its red or swollen, if I can feel the contact in there, if its the left eye or the right, if it has happened before, if there is any puss I can see, if it is itchy or not. And then she asks me "Can you be pregnant by any chance" I had to laugh. Where did that come from? I mean.. here I was totally into my eye questions and she asks me if I'm pregnant. I chuckled a "NOOO" lol
So she told me a couple of ways to take it out at home. I was supposed to
- put luke warm water in a container and put my eye in it and blink it several times
- lift my eye lid and flush it under a faucet
- lift my upper eye lid and place it over my lower lid
- do not in any case try to rub the eye
So while I was still on the phone with my friend (and after hanging up with the nurse) I tried some of those methods. My eye wasnt as bad before as it went after. It was teary and became red as blood and very itchy. Flushing ur eye under a faucet ain't really a pleasant thing to do. I gave up and lied down on my mom's bed and imagining a day in the far future where a contact lens would miraculously pop out of my right eye while watching tv.
After a 5 minute talk I decided to go back to my room when I saw something shiny on the carpet just infront. It was my contact lens.
